The Office of Diversity, Equality and Training (ODET) is responsible for the development and implementation of progressive statewide workforce management programs and initiatives in the areas of equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, retention, inclusion, and diversity. ODET is seeking an Administrative Specialist who will be responsible for the overall professional and administrative functions of the office.

Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Working in collaboration with ODET staff on programming and essential services, including but not limited to the Governor’s Leadership Programs (GLP), Mentorship Program, Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), Governor’s LEAD Conference and ADA/EEO initiatives which includes email communications, course scheduling, reconciliation of attendance rosters, attendance at all meetings and preparation of meeting minutes.
  • Overseeing and maintaining the annual KyLEAD Conference Project Plan and associated duties in collaboration with the Executive Director.
  • Coordinating ODET’s recruitment outreach initiative and duties in collaboration with the Executive Director.
  • Creating and managing Excel documents required for ODET’s programming and services.
  • Creating PowerPoint presentations and excel documents for ODET’s programming and services.
  • Overseeing the general functions of the office, which includes answering the phone, filing, and distribution of information and correspondence.

Preferred skills and abilities:

  • Strong computer skills that includes knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong organizational and technical skills
  • Ability to work in a collaborative work environment with a dedicated team of professionals

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of professional, administrative, or business experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
