Job Summary
The Ambulatory Pharmacy Coordinator is responsible for assisting in standardizing operations to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Position assists in coordinating pharmacy services and activities and ensures that the pharmacy provides optimal operations and clinical services on a daily basis. This position will focus on either operations coordination and/or clinical coordination within the ambulatory pharmacies. Position will facilitate the development, implementation and maintenance of operational systemsthat promote desirable patient outcomes through the use of appropriate, safe, cost-effective drug therapies. This position will report to the Ambulatory Pharmacy Operations Director.
Job Description
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree required
- Completion of a Pharmacy residency or commensurate experience preferred
- Masters of Science, Masters of Health Administration or Masters of Business Administrations or commensurate experience desirable
Licenses/Certifications:
- Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist in the state of Texas
- Board certification in pharmacotherapy or other specialty preferred for the Ambulatory Pharmacy Coordinator focusing on Clinical Coordination
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
- Five (5) years in a clinical pharmacy and three (3) years as Clinical Coordinator or other leadership position in clinical pharmacy developing and evaluating clinical pharmacy programs or operations experience OR completion of a PGY1/ PGY2 Health System Administration Pharmacy residency is required.
- Must work effectively as a team leader, have strong communication skills and have the ability to prioritize effectively and manage complex projects
- Knowledgeable and compliant with all relevant laws, rules regulations and accreditation standards and requirement
- Experience with analyzing and reporting data and demonstrates knowledge of intermediate to advanced level skill with MS Word, Excel, Power Point

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.

Clinical Coordination:
- Assists in directing clinical pharmacy services provided within Ambulatory Pharmacy Services.
- Assists in the development of practice standards for clinical pharmacy services within Ambulatory Pharmacy Services.
- Coordinates learning experiences for pharmacy residents and students.
- Investigates opportunities for additional clinical pharmacy services and assists in implementation.
- Participates in clinical research within Ambulatory Pharmacy Services.
- Provides education, drug information, and other educational services upon request.
- Coordinates the development of clinical education for Ambulatory Pharmacy Services team members.
- Serves as a point of contact for transition of care projects within Ambulatory Pharmacy Services.
Operations Coordination:
- Serves as a point of contact for ambulatory projects, answering questions, troubleshooting problems, and solving any other issues related to operational challenges.
- Serves as the implementation lead for projects working with the Director of Ambulatory Pharmacy regarding operations plans and medication systems.
- Assists in the oversight of quality assurance, medication safety, and operations of the Ambulatory Pharmacy Services.
- Assist with vendor management, credentialing with payers and pharmacy licensing within Ambulatory Pharmacy Services.
- Standardizes processes within Ambulatory Pharmacy Services – home infusion, specialty, and retail pharmacies.
- Assists with all applicable accreditation standards (URAC, ACHC, JC), 340B compliance and regulatory requirements (FDA/DEA/TSBP).
- Assists in developing operational policies and procedures for Ambulatory Pharmacy Services as needed.
