Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic team in a high volume automated refill setting. This role involves accurately and efficiently filling prescription requests under the supervision of a Pharmacist, preparing packages, and distributing medications in a fast-paced production environment. The position requires maintaining a consistent workflow to meet daily production goals and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with acute attention to detail while performing repetitive tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Manually fill prescription vials with prescribed tablets and capsules, verifying size and strength, and perform basic mathematical reasoning to calculate the appropriate number of units needed.
  • Replenish medication in automated dispensing cells using a handheld scanner to enter expiration and lot information, maintaining high focus to avoid cross-contamination.
  • Complete weekly cycle counts as assigned, conduct audits of cell inventory, and assist in identifying the root cause of discrepancies.
  • Prepare cold chain and specialty prescriptions, following special handling and packing requirements.
  • Assist with packing and shipping prescriptions, complying with federal and state HIPAA laws and pharmacy standard procedures.
  • Demonstrate problem resolution skills by recognizing, addressing, and escalating issues to management.
  • Perform cleaning and maintenance on all cells/cassettes, including disassembling, replacing parts, and conducting calibration audits.

Essential Skills

  • High School Degree or equivalent experience
  • CA Pharmacy Technician license required
  • Knowledge of federal and state HIPAA laws

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • PTCB National certification preferred
  • One year experience in a pharmacy retail or customer service setting
  • Skill using Mini Parata Kalish and cassettes preferred

Work Environment

This position is based in a large-scale pharmacy/warehouse production environment with exposure to cold conditions in refrigerated walk-in stations up to 5-7 times. Physical requirements include lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs for two hours per day, pushing vial pucks/canisters continuously for four hours per day, standing and walking for eight hours per day, stooping, kneeling, or crouching for two hours per day, climbing step ladders for two hours per day, and using a keyboard for two hours per day. Visual acuity is needed for reading, transcribing, and viewing computer screens for eight hours per day. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, with a potential shift change after 4-6 weeks to a Sunday-Thursday schedule, where Sundays are from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, and the rest of the week is from 1:30 PM to 10 PM.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
