This position provides the primary responsibilities for accounts payable and receivable for the Social Work Office of Research and Public Service (SWORPS), Tennessee Child Support Employment & Parenting Program, for the middle and west regions of Tennessee.

The Social Work Office of Research and Public Service invites applications for a full-time Accounting Specialist. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Budget, Finance, and Operations at SWORPS supports the day-to-day financial and administrative functions of this unit. This position performs diversified tasks in the maintenance of all accounting, financial, and travel-related activities for the unit, and provides general information about policy guidance as needed. This position represents SWORPS in a professional manner and often deals with individuals and organizations external to the university.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Associate degree or 2 years of progressively responsible accounting and administrative experience
    • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
    • Excellent communication, customer service and organizational skills.
    • Ability to multi-task and work independently
    • Ability to work within a team environment.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
    • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment visa status.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field
  • Experience: Experience in academic environment
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of UT fiscal policies and procedures

Work Location

  • Location: Nashville TN.
  • Position requires in person reporting to UT Social Work offices in Nashville, TN. There is the ability to work from home two days a week after training is completed.
