Primary responsibilities include developing and implementing nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy using established standards of care and practice protocol/guidelines; managing resources in a cost effective manner; participating in performance improvement efforts; and maintaining professional competency and skills required for professional practice. **The value** **you’ll** **bring to the team:** + PATIENT CARE: Utilizes hospital policies and procedures to identify patients with nutritional risk and provides expert nutrition assessment. Evaluates and monitors nutritional status of hospitalized patients ranging from newborn to geriatric populations as well as cultural, religious, and ethnic concerns, using established standards of care. + NUTRITION EDUCATION: Provides professional nutrition counseling that is age and culture specific. Identifies educational needs and provides current, hospital approved, nutrition education that is sensitive to the patient’s learning need, condition, readiness to learn, literacy, hearing language and age.BUSINESS/SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS: Supports the department’s goals and objectives. Attends department meetings and remains up to date with department activities, communications and changes. + PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT: Participates in the hospital’s performance improvement processes. Gathers, collects and reports data as requested including daily clinical activities. + PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Maintains dietetic registration and continuing education requirements.
