DUTIES: Provides outpatient and inpatient care at KUMC. Provides training of residents, fellows, and medical students. Works as a nephrology physician in the hospital, admitting, overseeing, monitoring patients with kidney conditions. Participates in department, college, medical center, and university committees and other service activities. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Department Chair or Division Chief.
Tenure track appointments are full-time with an initial probationary period of seven years. Criteria for promotion includes significant achievements in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. The award of tenure is based on potential for sustained contributions, performing beyond expected duties, and demonstrating leadership and innovation in activities that enhance the reputation of the University. The Clinical Scholar Track is for full-time faculty members who are heavily involved in clinical service, education, and related scholarship. This track has two career paths: Clinician-Educator concentrating on teaching and Clinician-Investigator for concentrating on research/scholarship. Significant contributions in professional and academic service are required for both paths.
MINIMUM REQUIRMENTS: MD or foreign degree equivalent or DO or foreign degree equivalent required. Hold or be eligible for a Kansas medical license. Completion of an accredited residency in Internal Medicine and board certification in Internal Medicine. Completion of a fellowship in Nephrology and Nephrology Transplant. Board certification in Nephrology or obtainable within 6 months.
