The starting pay range for this position: $17.81/hour - $23.39/hour
40 Hour Basic Work Week
This position offers a Trainee Status* at the following pay rate: $17.19/hour
The State of New Hampshire, Department of Military Affairs and Veterans Services has a full-time vacancy for Maintenance Mechanic II.
Summary: To perform skilled maintenance, repair, grounds care and snow removal work at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery (NHSVC). Prepares interment areas to include opening and closing graves and placement of grave markers as directed by the Assistant Superintendent of Grounds. Assists with committal services, coordinating on site details with participating attendees.
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or high school equivalency credential and completion of an apprenticeship in one of the skilled trades as required in the performance of job accountabilities.
Experience: Two years’ experience in general maintenance and repair work associated with one or more of the following areas: carpentry, electricity, painting, plumbing, masonry, sheet metal work, welding, auto repair or related trade experience. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in the building and grounds maintenance trades area. Two additional years of approved work experience may be substituted for the required apprenticeship in one of the skilled trades.
License/Certification: Valid driver’s license is required.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must be able to satisfactorily undergo a State Police records check.
2. This position is designated as “Essential Personnel”, which requires that employees report to their job site or be on standby during emergency situations, such as snow, inclement weather, or other emergency situations, including weather and building emergencies. Overtime in support of snow removal operations is mandatory.
3. Must be in good physical condition with normal strength and agility.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to candidates that have personally interacted with members of the military, to include family members of deceased veterans.
