Role Overview

Our engineering team builds and maintains products that support tens of thousands of daily transactions. As our systems grow in complexity and scale, so do the importance of robust, reliable quality practices. The Senior Quality Assurance Manager will lead these efforts - both hands-on and strategically - to ensure our products meet the highest standards before they reach our users.

This is an executional role, but in addition to day-to-day testing, you’ll lead the creation and implementation of our broader QA strategy. This means defining scalable testing processes, selecting the right tools and frameworks, and establishing clear quality benchmarks. You’ll be responsible for building and managing a high-performing remote QA team, guiding them with clear standards and expectations while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

You will be responsible for embedding within product and engineering teams to ensure quality is built into every stage of development. This includes writing and executing detailed test plans, developing and maintaining automated test suites, and manually testing new features when needed. Your approach should be proactive and hands-on—anticipating issues before they arise and advocating for quality in both planning and execution phases.

This role requires both strategic vision and executional excellence. You’ll work cross-functionally to align quality goals with product priorities and help our teams build confidence in what we ship. Your work will directly shape the reliability, performance, and user trust of software used every day.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with product, engineering, and design teams to embed quality throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Define and implement testing strategies, including manual and automated approaches, aligned with product goals and release timelines.
  • Establish and maintain scalable QA processes, tools, and documentation to support consistent testing and reporting practices.
  • Develop and maintain test plans, test cases, and automation scripts for new features, regressions, and system integrations.
  • Proactively identify, track, and communicate bugs, risks, and quality gaps; lead efforts to resolve them efficiently.
  • Build and manage a high-performing remote QA team, providing mentorship, structure, and performance management.
  • Drive the adoption of a quality mindset across engineering and product teams, including setting clear quality benchmarks and metrics.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align quality initiatives with broader business and product strategies.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of quality assurance experience in software or digital product development.
  • Proven track record of leading QA efforts in a startup or fast-paced tech environment.
  • Deep understanding of manual and automated testing methodologies, tools, and frameworks.
  • Strong experience collaborating with Engineers, Product Managers, Designers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advocate for quality across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Technical background with proficiency in software development lifecycles, CI/CD, and modern QA practices.
  • High degree of attention to detail and a passion for delivering polished, reliable products.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and testing priorities simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated expertise in QA tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, TestRail, JIRA).
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; preference given to candidates with backgrounds in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and evolving requirements in a dynamic product environment.
