Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Forensic Science, Biology, Anthropology, Forensic Investigations, Crime Scene Investigations, Public Administration, or closely related field. Two years of experience in death investigations or related forensic fields are required. Additional experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Must have or able to obtain the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators (ABMDI) Diplomate Registry Certification within the first of employment. Must possess a valid Driver's License.

Preferences

Experience in advanced death investigations to include processing complex death scenes, advanced identification of human remains, and mass fatality death scene investigations experience.

Recruitment Notes

This is an advanced forensic death investigation position that requires working in physically demanding environments to process death cases under the Medical Examiner Department's purview. This includes but is not limited to the processing of advance decomposed human remains, skeletal remains, charred bodies, partial human remains, and the processing of mass fatality death scenes. The employee in this position performs their duties in uncontrolled environments or remote scene locations to conduct the death scene investigation. This includes but is not limited to the processing of buried human remains, partially buried bodies, bodies found in water, fields, vehicles, remote locations, etc. The candidate for this position must be prepared to work any of the following work schedules to include, weekdays, weekends, holidays, and a variety of shifts.
