Assistant Director of Student Life - (25141022)
JOB OVERVIEW:
The purpose of this position is to supervise and coordinate general program activities involving residential staff and counseling staff as assigned by the Director of Student Life. This ensures a safe and secure environment for students which includes continuous supervision of students, providing instruction in daily living skills, implementing program activities and communicating effectively with students, families and staff.
Supervise Cottage Program (40%)
- Assist the Director of Student Life in hiring new residential staff.
- Assist the Director of Student Life in providing supervision and coordination of counseling services to students with learning, behavior or personal challenges.
- Assists the Director of Student Life in purchasing and maintaining inventories and supplies.
Supervises Student Life Staff (25%)
- Evaluates Lead Residential Advisors and Residential Advisors and other residential staff as assigned by the Director of Student Life.
- Prepares monthly program reports for administrative review.
- Provides ongoing training of the Residential Child and Youth Care Professional program.
- Assist the Director of Student Life with planning for Personal Development, training during the school year as well as planning for Orientation prior to the school year beginning.
Student Life Program Operations (20%)
- Oversees the direction and structure for the development and implementation of the Independent Living Skills Program.
- Coordinates with staff and implements various traditional, monthly and new leisure and memorable type activities.
- Functions as a liaison between Student Life Staff, academic program staff, families and possible stakeholders.
- Provides guidance to residential program in terms of direction and structure for the development of daily living skills programs that are appropriate to the ability and needs of the individual students.
Attending Meetings (15%)
- Serves as a member of the campus-wide Campus Support Team.
- Serves on other committee’s as assigned.
- Meets with Student Life Leadership team on a frequent basis

- Ability to comply with data collection, reporting timeframes and record management requirements.
- Knowledge of various counseling procedures as well as behavior management
- Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision.
- Willingness to learn American Sign Language (ASL) to work effectively with a variety of students and staff.
- Willingness to work different shifts as needed.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and meet established timelines.
- Knowledge of the impact of various experiences in the participant’s education and understanding of social and emotional experiences
- Adhere to confidentiality of sensitive and federally protected information.
Minimum qualifications (Education and Experience)
- A Bachelor’s degree in Management, Human Resources, Counseling, Behavioral Science, Educational Administration, or other related field.
- Three to four years of working with low-incidence, youth is highly desirable.
- Experience in working with individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, low-vision or deaf-blind is desirable
- Experience in supervising staff
- Has current driver’s license.

Salary: $
80,000.00 - 85,000.00 Yearly
