Division Description

The California Housing Finance Agency (CalHFA) Information Technology (IT) Division is responsible for providing secure, responsive, and innovative technical infrastructure, systems, and services that enable the Agency to achieve its strategic objectives and fulfill its mission. The duties of the Information Security and Exchange Team include protecting agency data by means of policies, procedures, and training. The security team is the main point of contact for agency staff needing assistance with information security or Office 365.

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Information Technology Manager I, the Information Technology Associate is responsible for a variety of work assignments for the Information Security and Exchange Unit. The incumbent is responsible for using judgment and problemsolving skills within guidelines and scope of Information Technology operations.

Working Conditions

CalHFA is a high-rise building conveniently located in downtown Sacramento with access to public transportation (light rail and bus) and freeways (I-5, 99, and Business 80). It is a block from Downtown Commons (DOCO), the Golden 1 Center, many restaurants and shopping. CalHFA employees also have access to an on-site ATM and gym located in the building.

BE LIST ELIGIBLE:

Successfully complete the competitive State civil service exam for the Information Technology Associate exam.

OR

BE TRANSFER ELIGIBLE:

Have current employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable (employees who wish to be considered based on transfer eligibility must meet the minimum qualifications of the classification per DPA Rule 250)

OR

BE REINSTATEMENT ELIGIBLE:

Have obtained previous permanent employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience analyzing data or logs to identify problems, trends, or anomalies
  • Experience preparing technical documentation, memos, or written reports
  • Experience organizing or supporting trainings, workshops, or outreach efforts
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks or tickets simultaneously and prioritize effectively
  • Strong communication skills when working with internal teams or external stakeholders
  • Willingness and ability to learn new technologies and stay current on emerging IT/security trends
