WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Child/Adolescent School & Community-Based Services is seeking a dedicated and motivated Part Time Community Services Aide III to join our team. This role plays a vital part in coordinating inter agency initiatives within Montgomery County Public Schools and the community, ensuring children, youth, and their families receive the support they need.

What You'll Be Doing

The Child/Adolescent School & Community-Based Services is seeking a dedicated and motivated Part Time Community Services Aide III will:

  • Provide support services for families served by the Cluster Projects, a joint effort with Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) focused on maintaining and increasing family stability for students whose families are in crisis or in need of multiple supports outside of the school system, so that students may continue to stay fully engaged in school.
  • Conduct intakes with families as assigned by supervisor via clients’ preferred method of contact (home visit, office visit, in-person at agreed upon community location, virtual
  • meeting or via phone) and create family service plans.
  • Provide remote and in-person case support to promote family self-sufficiency for 6 months, supporting families to access public and private benefits, resources, and services tenable social, physical and economic well-being. Performs tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and innovation, seeking supervisor input for more difficult cases.
  • Provide resources, instruction, advice, and guidance, coordinating efforts to assist, and advocating with government agencies for client families with a broad range of needs (including children, disabled, and recently arrived migrant and asylum-seeking families).
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and/or resolve problems in service delivery by acting as a liaison between clients and social service agencies to solve varied problems, which frequently involves telephoning on a client's behalf, accompanying clients on appointments, or translating personal correspondence.
  • Assist with interpretation and advocacy between client families, partners, and provider organizations.
  • Utilize enterprise technology to document services and benefits provided and coordinate support across teams.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: Three (3) years of experience providing delivery of social, health and/or public assistance services.

Education: Completion of high school or High School Certificate of completion recognized in the State of Maryland

Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Special Minimum Qualification: May be required to have bi-lingual ability (English and a foreign language), depending on position assignment.

LICENSE:

Possession and maintenance at all times of a valid State of Maryland driver’s license when required for job-related duties.

Preferred Criteria, Interview Preferences

We will use preferred criteria screening questions:

  • Do you have 3 years of experience providing direct social services or case management to clients?
  • Do you have experience with community outreach?
  • Do you have experience working with children and families?
  • Do you possess a State of Maryland Driver’s License?
  • Are you multilingual in Amharic, French or Spanish?

Leave Benefits

Our generous leave package starts with non-MLS permanent and term employees earning 15 days of sick leave and 15 days of annual leave in their first year, as well as up to three additional personal days each calendar year. Positions in MLS earn 35 days of paid time off each year. In addition, we offer all employees 10 paid holidays. Our leave policies adhere to the Family Medical Leave Act of 1993, and we provide six weeks of paid parental leave for new parents.

Retirement Benefits

All permanent and term positions are eligible for robust retirement plans. Public safety positions are eligible for a defined benefit pension plan in which they are vested after only five years. Employees in non-public safety positions can participate in retirement plans that contribute up to 12 percent of their annual salary. All employees can also participate in a supplemental retirement plan, the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan, to contribute even more to their retirement goals.

Montgomery County employees are eligible to participate in the Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Participants who meet all requirements may qualify for forgiveness on the remaining balance on their Direct Loans after making 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time in a qualifying public service position.
