We are the Database Performance team focused on optimizing transaction processing performance, including concurrency control, workload tuning, and low-latency execution on high-performance platforms such as Oracle Exadata and Exascale. As an integral part of the development organization, this group works to ensure that the Oracle Database delivers the fastest and most reliable performance in both industry benchmarks and customer production environments.
Our performance team plays a critical role in the R&D phase of new features and technologies. We engage throughout the full product lifecycle - from early feasibility studies and investigations through performance testing of prototypes, to performance QA during active development, and continuous regression testing on released versions.
We focus on performance across all layers of the Oracle stack, from hardware interaction and kernel-level database operations to connection management and application-tier transaction patterns. While typical developers may have deep knowledge of specific code areas, our team maintains a cross-functional view of the entire system to identify bottlenecks and implement end-to-end performance improvements. This breadth of exposure across technology layers and use cases keeps the role challenging and engaging.
The scope of the job is wide-ranging. As a senior member of the database engineering team, you will contribute to the design, performance testing, and tuning of database, engineered systems, and database cloud services to ensure high reliability and low-latency performance under real-world workloads. You will work closely with database developers and systems engineers to identify performance bottlenecks and help shape the direction of core functionality.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $223,400 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
