Job Summary

The STEPS Grounds Worker supports campus maintenance and landscaping to ensure safe, clean, and attractive outdoor environments.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Performing grounds maintenance: mowing, trimming, edging, seeding, fertilizing, weed control, and leaf removal
  • Installing and maintaining landscaped areas including: mulching, planting, watering, and following landscape designs
  • Using and maintaining groundskeeping equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, tractors, blowers, pressure washers)
  • Pruning trees, shrubs, and bushes; maintaining gardens, sporting venues, and general campus areas
  • Applying environmentally responsible weed and pest control
  • Removing litter, emptying trash, and maintaining cleanliness of grounds, stairwells, and parking garages
  • Preparing for and responding to winter weather events, including snow and ice removal at all hours (nights, weekends, holidays)
  • Operating light to heavy snow/ice removal equipment such as salt spreaders, snowplows, blowers, and trucks
  • Performing post-winter cleanup and maintaining equipment
