Title: Project Engineer – Civil/Utilities

Job Overview:
The Project Engineer is responsible for managing utility and telecommunications projects ensuring our manufactured monopoles, from design through release, ensuring all phases—drawing creation, submission, revision, approval, and production—are executed accurately and on time. This role will provide QA/QC internally to the engineering and manufacturing teams across all outdoor infrastructure solutions, traffic structures, transportation corridors, utility networks, power transmission/distribution solutions, and large-scale telecommunications installations. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical background, excels at project coordination, and is comfortable leading both internal teams and customer-facing meetings. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a proactive approach to learning new technologies are essential for success and long-term growth in this role.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Act as the main technical point of contact for assigned utilities and telecommunications projects, maintaining thorough documentation of customer-specific requirements and supporting internal teams (engineering, sales, production, quality) in resolving questions or gaps in project data.
- Review customer-supplied drawings, technical specifications, industry standards (such as NESC, NEC, or RUS), and related documentation to understand the full scope and requirements of telecommunications and utility projects.
- Manage multiple DOT and municipal projects simultaneously, ensuring that all assigned telecommunications and utilities projects remain on track and meet established milestones.
- Lead coordination with utility clients regarding Requests for Information (RFIs), ensuring all technical and administrative queries are addressed promptly to avoid project delays.
- Create and prepare submittal drawing packages customized to the needs of each utility telecom project, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, permitting approvals, and regulatory guidelines.
- Perform photometric design and layout for telecom infrastructure components (e.g., towers, cabinets, poles, enclosures, and equipment shelters) as required; training provided.
- Maintain and track project schedules to ensure that all submittals, approvals, and releases to production align with both internal deadlines and utility customer expectations.
- Work closely with cross-departmental teams including product engineering, quality assurance, production, and customer service to ensure successful project execution and to drive continuous process improvement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or Associates degree in Drafting, Technical Drawings or Engineering Technology required.
- Preferring a minimum of 2+ years’ experience with utility infrastructure related project design, coordination, management, and engineering. (electrical/substation, traffic structures, storm, sewer, drainage, telecommunications, gas mains, etc.)
- Experience using Microstation, AutoCAD or SolidWorks is required.
- Ability to work onsite daily.
