Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Construction Specialist to join our team! In this role you will get to oversee construction projects, ensuring that all activities are performed in compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

This position requires a highly organized individual with extensive construction experience, a solid understanding of construction processes, and the ability to manage teams and resources efficiently. The Construction Specialist will work closely with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

What You'll Be Doing;

  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop detailed construction plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Coordinate all aspects of construction projects, ensuring that resources, materials, and personnel are available and utilized efficiently.
  • Monitor project timelines and milestones to ensure that construction activities are on track and identify potential delays or issues.
  • Oversee day-to-day activities on construction sites to ensure work is being completed according to specifications, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Supervise and manage subcontractors and construction workers, ensuring that work is performed to the highest quality standards and within the established timelines.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor the progress of construction, ensuring that safety protocols are adhered to at all times.
  • Ensure that all construction work complies with local building codes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct inspections to identify and resolve any quality control issues or discrepancies in work.
  • Implement quality assurance measures to ensure the construction meets or exceeds client expectations and contractual obligations.
  • Assist in the development and management of project budgets, ensuring that all costs are monitored and kept within approved limits.
  • Work with project managers to evaluate and approve contractor and supplier invoices.
  • Track expenses and materials usage, providing recommendations to optimize costs without compromising quality.
  • Ensure that construction sites meet safety regulations and that workers are trained in safety protocols.
  • Identify potential safety hazards and implement risk mitigation strategies to ensure the well-being of all personnel on site.
  • Investigate any accidents or incidents on-site and develop reports to prevent future occurrences.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for internal teams, clients, and contractors, ensuring clear communication throughout the construction process.
  • Provide regular progress updates to senior management, including status reports, timelines, and any challenges faced during construction.
  • Coordinate and participate in regular meetings with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project alignment.
  • Address and resolve any construction-related problems, including delays, design changes, or technical challenges.
  • Implement proactive solutions to keep projects on track and ensure that client expectations are met.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and vendors to resolve technical and logistical issues as they arise.
  • Maintain detailed records of construction activities, including contracts, change orders, and daily reports.
  • Ensure all project documentation is organized and up to date, including contracts, permits, and drawings.
  • Prepare and submit reports for project completion and assist in the preparation of final accounts.

What Required Skills You'll Bring;

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction or project management, preferably in the commercial, residential, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale construction projects.
  • Experience working with contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse teams and subcontractors.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Certification in Project Management (PMP, CAPM) or Construction Management (CCM).
  • Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and its application in construction projects.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to think critically under pressure.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in managing sustainability practices and green building certifications (e.g., LEED).
