Job Summary
- The Radiation Therapist administers radiation treatments according to the treatment prescription authorized by the radiation oncologist; obtains images used to plan and target the radiation; assesses patient condition prior to simulation/treatment administration and provides patient education on an ongoing basis throughout the course of simulation/treatment.
- When assigned to CT simulation, the Radiation Therapist creates immobilization and treatment aid/ accessory devices specific for each patient; utilizes technical knowledge operating a CT scanner and MED RAD power injector for IV contrast administration; obtains and analyzes cross sectional imaging for treatment planning according to the physician intent; obtains IV sites for contrast administration and performs blood draws as indicated.
