Job Title: Per Diem Welder - Weekly Pay!

Job Description

Perform specialized welding functions required in the production of heat and transfer equipment. The welding will primarily be Flux Core and TIG. Proficiency in an out-of-position manner with a minimum of twelve procedures is required. This includes FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW processes, along with two specialty procedures such as small diameter pipe, tube to tubesheet, subarc, overlay, or stress, ensuring good weld quality and production time.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret shop blueprints as related to weld joints, symbols, and general layout, fit-up, or assembly operations.
  • Operate overhead cranes and forklifts related to welding part set-ups and removals.
  • Set up and operate arc-air equipment.
  • Control weld rods in accordance with AS 5.2 standards.
  • Perform in-process inspection and NDE methods such as MT and PT.
  • Understand interpass temperature and heat input effects on distortion during and after welding with steels and alloys.
  • Conduct minor maintenance related to wire feed machines and related welding equipment.
  • Perform layouts and basic fit-up and assembly operations.
  • Meet basic tool requirements for the classification.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints related to welding joints and symbols.
  • Experience with Flux Core welding.
  • Knowledge of stainless steel and structural fabrication.
  • Understanding of various grades of materials such as pipe, plate, bar, and fittings.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Must pass weld tests including 5F on 3/8, GTAW/FCAW: 6G XXS 2.5in pipe, FCAW: 2G, 3G, and 4G on 1/2in plate with a 60-degree included bevel and still backing, GMAW: 2G & 3G on 1/2" plate with an open root, and GTAW: 2G & 3G on 1/2" test plates with an open root with 60 degrees included bevel.
  • 2+ years of relevant welding experience.

Work Environment

Work in a dynamic machine and fabrication shop environment. Most positions are available for the 2nd shift from 3:00pm - 1:30am Monday to Thursday, with voluntary overtime on Fridays and Saturdays. There is also a 1st shift from 6:00am - 2:30pm Monday to Friday. The facility accommodates 120 total shop workers, including 75 welders and 15 machinists, spread across two shifts.

This is a Contract position based out of Joplin, Missouri.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.
