Job Title: Equipment Mechanic

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Mobile Equipment Mechanic who will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of mobile mining equipment, service trucks, and passenger trucks. This position is integral to ensuring safe and reliable operation of equipment including loaders, dozers, excavators, scrapers, backhoes, boom trucks, tractor trailers, and various support vehicles. The role primarily involves working independently in a four-bay garage/shop, with occasional travel to offsite locations for repairs.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections and document them in the CMMS program.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, including cleaning, lubricating, and routine maintenance of equipment.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment systems such as hydraulic systems, motors, transmissions, drives, and electrical systems.
• Test repaired or maintained equipment to ensure safe and effective operation.
• Prioritize and schedule repairs and maintenance to minimize equipment downtime.
• Fabricate, modify, and install equipment and replacement parts using tools such as torches, welders, and plasma cutters.
• Adhere to company safety rules and MSHA/OSHA guidelines.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• Troubleshooting and mechanical repair skills.
• Preventive maintenance expertise.
• Experience with brake systems, hydraulics, boom trucks, and tractor trailers.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Proficiency in diesel mechanics and welding.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years' experience with diesel trucks and heavy equipment.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Experience in overhauling diesel engines, brake service, electrical troubleshooting, and equipment service.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.
• Ability to solve mechanical and electrical problems quickly and independently.
• Experience using OEM diagnostic software for troubleshooting.

Work Environment

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, exposing employees to various elements such as heat, cold, rain, dust, and wind. Employees will operate various types of heavy equipment and machinery, with physical demands including walking, sitting, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Holland, Pennsylvania.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $34.00/hr.
