The Regional Manager, EHS implements programs and initiatives as part of a company-wide comprehensive Environmental, Health & Safety Management System (EHSMS). This includes developing a strategy and monitoring the effective execution of various EHS programs, awareness activities, and regulatory compliance activities across all divisions. This person will be engaged in the prevention of incidents/accidents, and events that harm people, property, or the environment. He/she will make recommendations to leadership. He/she will implement EHS policies and procedures in compliance with, local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), (EPA) rules and regulations. A combined knowledge of industrial and/or manufacturing processes with strong technical, environmental, department of transportation and regulatory affairs proficiency and excellent interpersonal skills is required to effectively execute the responsibilities of this position.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides maintenance, review of procedures, programs and processes related to the Pace EHSMS. Serves as a support function to the Sr. Director Environmental Health & Safety.
  • Supports the strategic alignment, collaboration, and coordination of EHS programs.
  • Develops a compelling, strategic-focused, and multi-faceted communication plan that addresses owners, clients, employees, management, and other affiliates.
  • Provides guidance for departmental processes and activities including compliance with environmental and safety regulations; provides leadership and recommendations regarding the design, embedment, and administration of all environmental and safety related initiatives, policies, procedures, and tactical processes.
  • Drives the operational implementation of initiatives and processes and ensures that the key elements of this environmental and safety culture are consistent with the emphases and metrics of Pace Industries.
  • Reviews environmental and / or safety related incidents investigations and participates as directed; ensures proper policies and procedures are followed; provides analysis of trends/data and provides recommendations for follow-up and action planning.
  • Monitor’s developments, trends and legislation related to environmental and safety and evaluates impact on business operations; recommends policy and procedural improvements as appropriate.
  • Oversees and participates in the development of training and employee awareness programs; monitors the effectiveness of these programs and links training completion/performance to environmental/safety/business metrics.
  • Attends relevant industry conferences and professional meetings as part of bench marking; identifies innovations/practices/tools/approaches; serves as subject matter expert and coach to operating leaders across the company and industry.
  • Plans and coordinates, through subordinate staff and embedded division contacts, the EHSMS work plan; recommends projects and programmatic areas of responsibility; reviews and evaluates work methods and procedures; meets with staff and division contacts to facilitate work and resolve problems.

  • Frequent travel is required in support of the division EHS Managers and corporate EHS objectives and programs.
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Equivalent to a four-year college degree plus 3 years’ related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001:2015

  • Must be proficient with the use of the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) and Minitab statistical analysis software.
