The Position:

As part of the Controller’s Group, the Accounting Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, compliance, and process optimization across the Finance Hub. This role is responsible for managing essential financial operations and partnering closely with cross-functional teams to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and regulatory adherence in tax reporting, transfer pricing, and Treasury support as needed.

Beyond operational execution, the Accounting Manager plays a critical role in shaping Roche’s financial strategy by strengthening internal controls, optimizing processes, and ensuring alignment with global financial objectives. This role proactively identifies financial risks and opportunities, providing key insights that support corporate decision-making and enhancing overall financial performance. By collaborating with cross-functional teams and leveraging data-driven analysis, the Accounting Manager drives continuous improvements that increase efficiency, mitigate compliance risks, and contribute to Roche’s long-term financial success.

The role also serves as a key point of contact for Roche Shared Services, ensuring smooth collaboration and the effective resolution of issues related to Period End Close (PEC), tax compliance, and intercompany transactions.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a liaison for the Roche Shared Services PEC (Period End Close) team on bonus-related activities, including reviewing bonus calculations and adjustments after payouts.
  • Oversee 1098, 1099, 1042, and Puerto Rico 480s reporting, ensuring timely follow-up on IRS notices and penalty inquiries.
  • Ensure the accuracy of tax withholding data and initiate monthly tax payments to the IRS.
  • Prepare the annual transfer pricing update, including:
    • Collaborating with the Roche Shared Services Costing Team and business partners.
    • Analyzing, reconciling, and adjusting transfer pricing from the previous year.
    • Calculating and establishing transfer prices for new materials.
  • Support Treasury activities and initiatives:
    • Cash forecasting.
    • Manual wire validations from CitiDirect/CitiVelocity entries.
    • Ad hoc projects as needed.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field; Public accounting experience is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or manufacturing industries.
  • Experience in a multinational environment with intercompany transactions and transfer pricing is preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of IFRS with the ability to effectively communicate with non-specialists.
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve issues independently.
  • Strong process improvement mindset to create solutions for financial challenges.
  • High attention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Positive and proactive attitude with a strong desire to learn and collaborate.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills across a global organization.
  • Strong Excel skills; experience with SAP (P1S) is a plus.
  • Experience with domestic and foreign vendor payment tax reporting and compliance.

Employment Type: Full-time

The expected salary range for this position, based on the primary location of South San Francisco, is $96,600 - $179,400. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
