Job Title: Application Engineer

Job Description

As an Application Engineer, you will assist in evaluating customer specifications to designate the proper treatment solution and produce accurate Bills of Material (BOM) and capital/operating cost estimates. You will complete bids and proposals by the required due dates and confirm product performance by designing and conducting operational tests or research. This role involves reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports, as well as creating preliminary Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), and layout drawings. You will provide engineering support by answering questions and requests from inside or outside the organization and seek outside resources to assist with implementing operating procedures, resolving system malfunctions, and obtaining technical support/information.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate customer specifications to designate the proper treatment solution.
  • Produce accurate BOM and capital/operating cost estimates.
  • Complete bids and proposals by required due dates.
  • Confirm product performance by designing and conducting operational tests or research.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
  • Create preliminary PFD, P&ID, and layout drawings.
  • Provide engineering support by answering questions and requests from inside or outside the organization.
  • Seek outside resources to assist with implementing operating procedures, resolving system malfunctions, and obtaining technical support/information.
  • Occasionally travel to customer job sites or tradeshows (approximately 5%).
  • Perform other tasks, duties, or projects as assigned by management.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a four-year college in Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering; or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with AutoCAD.
  • Experience with designing piping systems (2+ years).
  • Ability to perform calculations needed for drawing creation.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, etc.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, etc.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Design software, Internet software, Excel Spreadsheet software, Word, and Adobe Word Processing software.
  • Experience with BOM, P&ID, PFD, layout design, new product development, and sales.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, you will occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. You will regularly be required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk/hear. You will frequently be required to reach with hands and arms. Occasionally, you will be required to stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
