Job Title: Medical Assistant - Neurosurgery Department

Job Description

Join our team as a Medical Assistant in the Neurosurgery department, where you will perform a variety of clinical tasks to support patient care. This temporary contract position will cover an extended leave from July 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024. You will work in a clinic setting and may assist with minimal surgical scheduling needs, depending on your experience.

Responsibilities

  • Take medical histories and record vital signs.
  • Explain treatment procedures to patients.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and perform swab testing.
  • Conduct basic laboratory tests on-site.
  • Dispose of contaminated supplies and sterilize medical instruments.
  • Arrange examining room instruments and equipment.
  • Clean and organize waiting and examining rooms.
  • Instruct patients about medications and special diets.
  • Authorize drug refills and telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy.
  • Prepare patients for x-rays.

Essential Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 1+ years of Medical Assistant or hospital experience.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in surgical scheduling is an advantage.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

You will work Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Travel to the South Hadley office will be required twice a week. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.
