Job Summary:

The Procurement Operations Manager plays a vital leadership role in overseeing procurement activities across the organization. This position is responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. Reporting to the Procurement Director, this role supports a centralized purchasing model and collaborates with internal departments to align procurement efforts with organizational goals and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies enhancing cost efficiency, quality, and delivery.
  • Establish, enforce, and improve procurement policies and procedures ensuring compliance and standardization.
  • Manage supplier performance and relationships through regular assessments and strategic engagement.
  • Lead contract negotiations securing favorable terms for the organization.
  • Monitor market trends identifying opportunities for cost savings and operational enhancements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand procurement needs and provide initiative-taking support.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and deliver regular reports to leadership.
  • Guide and mentor the procurement team to promote continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Expertise in centralized procurement strategies and policy development.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Proficient in procurement systems and tools, with a focus on efficiency and innovation.
  • Strong understanding of supply market dynamics and cost drivers.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • An analytical mindset with a focus on results and process improvement.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.

Experience and/or Education Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of procurement or supply chain experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success in supplier management, contract negotiation, and cost reduction.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CPSM, CPPB) preferred.
  • Experience collaborating across departments to align procurement with organizational goals.

Supervisory Requirements:

  • Communicate with the strategic direction of the organization and encourage participation by all team members.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to all aspects of the department.
  • Take an active role in monitoring the identification, development, and execution of strategic objectives.
  • Involve, as appropriate, all team members to achieve goals.
  • Effectively communicate to team members any changes and newsworthy events within the department or company.
  • Manage difficult team member situations directly, using appropriate discretion and Human Resource advice to show respect for the individual.
  • Champion changes and effectively manages the implementation of innovative ideas.
  • Reinforces team approach throughout functions; support and solicit input from team members at all levels within the company.

Employment Requirements:

  • Successful completion of background check including criminal record, driving record, abuse/neglect, and fingerprint check.
  • Completion of New Hire Orientation at the beginning of employment.
  • All training requirements including Relias at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter.
  • Current driver’s license, acceptable driving record and current auto insurance.

Physical Requirements:

ADA Consideration - Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (exists up the 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (exists 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, or pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Repetitive movements of hands, fingers, and arms for typing and/or writing during work shift.

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
