POSITION OBJECTIVE
Working under moderate supervision, the Research Assistant 1 will perform experiments in a neuroscience lab researching serotonin biochemical dynamics during sleep. The position requires a variety of experiments performing chromatography-mass spectrometry, pharmacology, cell culture work, immunohistochemistry and general lab maintenance.

This position has no direct supervision of staff employees.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in science and 0 to 1 year of experience or Associate's degree in an approved biotechnology program and 0 to 2 years of experience required.
REQUIRED SKILLS
WORKING CONDITIONS
General laboratory environment. The lab is an open floor plan with abundant bench space and ample desk space with computers. The lab is equipped with one shared fume hood for storage of hazardous and non-hazardous materials (fluorophores, solvents, reagents, Acetone, Ethanol, Trypsin, L-glutamine, etc.,). Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including lab coat, gloves and googles, may be required and provided to limit exposure to hazards. The cell culture room nearby is equipped with incubators, culture hood, and microscope. The employee should expect frequent interactions with lab members and must be willing to collaborate.
