Plains is currently seeking an ambitious, hard-working individual to join the Taxation team. A position is available in our Indirect Tax Department for someone who is looking to pursue a rewarding opportunity in the oil & gas industry. While working closely with the Indirect Tax Team and reporting to the Manager, Indirect Tax, this position will be responsible for addressing indirect tax issues in Canada and the US including filing various indirect tax & regulatory returns, licensing, sales tax certificates and tax research.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare US and Canadian indirect tax returns in accordance with tax law and appropriate deadlines;
  • Mine various computer programs to execute their tasks (Oracle Fusion, Right Angle, Once Source);
  • Improve processes and procedures in a fast paced, dynamic work environment;
  • Reconcile general ledger tax accounts;
  • Assist indirect tax team with projects;
  • Research document and communicate various indirect tax issues;
  • Guide operations with specific tax and research issues; and
  • Support tax audits.

Qualifications:

  • University Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience;
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional accounting work experience, internships will be considered.
  • Self-motivated, results orientated and want to learn;
  • Focus on delivery deadlines and documentation;
  • Positive attitude & driven to work as part of the team and individually;
  • Proficient Microsoft Office Suite skills – must possess advanced Excel
  • Right Angle, Oracle Fusion and One Source experience is an asset.
  • Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks.
