Job Overview

The Production Supervisor is responsible for employee’s safety, food safety and quality, productivity, efficiency, customer service, cost, and employee engagement objectives through both individual and team contributions for our Texas facility for the Beans. Provides direction, leadership, development, and support to direct reports through empowerment, teamwork, on-the-job assignments and continuous improvement projects and initiatives. Implements and promotes safety programs and safe work practices through leadership of his/her team, involvement in plant safety teams, immediate resolution of imminent safety risk, working on safety programs, and engaging in safety initiatives. Develops, promotes, and supports continuous improvement and other cross-functional initiatives.

1st Shift Supervisor: 6AM - 6:30PM

Responsibilities

  1. Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates to plan department operations.
  2. Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
  3. Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
  4. Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  5. Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
  6. Hold individuals accountable to perform to standard operational procedures by observing workers and coaching to ensure compliance with standards.
  7. Includes staff in planning, decision-making, facilitating and process improvement.
  8. Prioritizes and plans work activities; Uses time efficiently; Organizes or schedules other people and their tasks.
  9. Collaborate with other departments on cross functional inventory systems.
  10. Promotes, adheres, and is responsible for Food Safety and Quality.
  11. Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.
  12. Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  13. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  14. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  15. Ensures 100% compliance of personal and team regulatory training and required Plant training.
  16. Communicates verbally and in writing to convey a message of leadership, resource needs, and/or daily performance.
  17. Any other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to efficiently work in a plant environment.
  • Regularly required to stand, reach, and move about the facility.
  • Walking; bending twisting at the neck waist; light lifting/carrying.
  • Frequent sitting; standing; simple grasping; fine manipulation/feeling; reaching at shoulder level; repetitive motion of the shoulders and arms.
  • Constant repetitive motion of the hands; talking; use of vision and hearing.
  • Will work on feet for entire shift in a cold, noisy environment.
  • Stooping, bending, climbing, twisting, stretching, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Some office/cubicle setting

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises the Production Technicians/Operators. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training management employees; planning, assigning, and directing work to production supervisors; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving issues.

Qualifications

  • Ability to apply understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Food Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to apply understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and mentor large teams of hourly associates is required.
  • Ability to operate and navigate tablet devices.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical/critical thinking.
  • Strong accountability, consistency, and follow-through skills

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to apply understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Knowledge of Redzone Production System.
  • Forklift Certification preferred.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is exposed to hot, wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. Conditions of facility can reach a work in hot environment for 10+ hours (110°F) The facility can be a loud enviornment due to machinery, hearing protection is required.
