Job Summary
The Marketing Manager oversees the strategy, execution, and day-to-day operations of marketing, design, and other creative needs. This position manages a team of part-time staff and contractors whose duties focus on developing brand and marketing materials to support the Center's marketing goals across a variety of platforms.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Directs all operations for marketing and communications, providing direction to marketing intern staff.
- Develops, evaluates, and executes strategic marketing plans for the Center and specific programmatic areas to advance goals and objectives, including data collection and market research, target market definition, development of project timelines, sourcing of promotional materials, and marketing content creation.
- Leads a variety of team of members, including graphic design, website, and social media including hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, assigning work, and setting goals and objectives.
- Reports to director, and collaborates closely with program managers, campus partners, and other leaders in Bloomington.
- Serves as the subject matter expert on creative strategy and Center brand identity as well as technical and functional resource on communication and marketing platforms utilized by IU such as Salesforce CRM, WCMS, and LiveWhale.
- Refines and optimizes standards and processes to ensure productivity, quality, transparency, and stakeholder satisfaction across all aspects of creative execution.
- Develops a strong lineup of external talent (freelancers) that can be leveraged when needed to augment internal capabilities.
- Ensures marketing and communication content, messages, images, and policies promote inclusion and belonging for all audiences and contributes to expanding our understanding and knowledge in this area.
- Responds to escalated and complex inquiries and requests from direct reports and stakeholders; acts as a resource and explains policies, procedures, and programs.
- Assists in budget planning and administration for marketing initiatives, including expenditures, revenue projections, and project and program costs.
- Monitors industry trends and best practices, makes process and operational and strategic recommendations, and assists in implementing procedural changes.
- Provides guidance to additional interns and student staff.
General Responsibilities
- Directs day-to-day operations for the marketing and communications function by providing oversight and direction within a department or large multi-faceted department.
- Hires, trains, evaluates, coaches, assigns work, and supervises the work of a team of Marketing Generalists and/or Marketing Assistants.
- Manages relationships with various internal and external stakeholders; determines marketing needs, projects, and programs to align with objectives and goals and supervises processes such as the development of marketing timelines related to such initiatives.
- Independently develops, evaluates, and executes basic and complex strategic marketing plans for a department, functional area within a department, or large, multi-faceted department to advance goals and objectives, including data collection and market research, target market definition, development of project timelines, sourcing of promotional materials, and marketing content creation.
- Responds to escalated and complex inquiries and requests from direct reports and stakeholders; acts as a resource and explains policies, procedures, and programs.
- May assist in budget planning and administration for marketing initiatives, including expenditures, revenue projections, and project and program costs.
- Regularly researches relevant subject matter to increase knowledge in area(s) of specialty; monitors industry trends and best practices and makes process and operational and strategic recommendations to manager.

EDUCATION
Required
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, English, public relations, or related field

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

$56,139 - $62,000 per year
