Job Title: Crate Builder/Material Handler

Job Description

The Crate Builder/Material Handler will be responsible for operating a forklift to transport raw and finished goods. Additionally, the role involves packaging finished products and using banding saws and nail guns to produce crates and skids ahead of the production line.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a forklift to transport raw and finished goods efficiently.
  • Package finished goods with precision and care.
  • Use banding saws and nail guns to produce crates and skids.
  • Maintain the production line by preparing materials for processing.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed according to safety and quality standards.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 6 months manufacturing experience.
  • 1 year of forklift experience is highly desired.
  • Ability to read a tape measure down to 1/16 inch.
  • Proficiency in general production and material handling.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with hand and power tools, including banding saws and nail guns.
  • Ability to interpret measurements accurately.

Work Environment

The work environment is within the nation's largest manufacturer of metal roofing and building systems. The Rock Island location caters to IA/IL territories, with production adapting to daily client orders. Candidates should be prepared for possible overtime requests at short notice. The facility comprises around 15 production employees, with approximately 8 individuals working on the 2nd shift dedicated to machining and preparing orders for shipment. The dress code includes jeans, a shirt, safety glasses, gloves, arm guards, and steel-toed boots, with the employee responsible for providing their own steel-toed boots.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rock Island, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
