Job Description:
The Assistant Director of Communications and Outreach for the College of Nanotechnology, Science, and Engineering (CNSE) at the University at Albany will play a pivotal role in enhancing the College's visibility, reputation, and strategic outreach. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of media campaigns related to University strategies and initiatives, building and sustaining the recruitment pipeline for CNSE and affiliated departments, and creating a wide range of published content and communication strategies for general audiences as well as for technical audiences.
The incumbent will lead content development and management across CNSE's key communications channels, including the website, social media platforms, and campus-wide messaging. Responsibilities include creating compelling content that highlights current activities, initiatives, and successes of CNSE's students, faculty, alumni, and research. The Assistant Director of Communications and Outreach will work closely with the Office of Communications and Marketing, as well as undergraduate and graduate admissions, to design and implement targeted campaigns to build a pipeline of prospective students and showcase CNSE's unique programs and contributions.
Additionally, this position will serve as a liaison for strategic communications with internal stakeholders, research partners, and external industry collaborators, ensuring that messaging is aligned, timely, and impactful. The portfolio also includes supporting events, special projects, and other initiatives that strengthen CNSE's brand and contribute to its long-term growth and success.
The Assistant Director of Communications and Outreach will be a skilled professional with exceptional communication and writing abilities, proficiency in social media and design tools.
The incumbent will report to the Dean and Vice Dean and work in close collaboration with them as well as Department Chairs, Administrative Managers, and CNSE faculty to develop and implement robust outreach and communications plans, and effectively communicate achievements to current and prospective students and appropriate audiences. In addition, the incumbent will assist with administrative tasks as needed.
