MX is looking for a highly skilled Senior Web Experience Architect/Systems Lead who is passionate about building modern, intuitive, high-performing web experiences. The Senior Web Experience Architect will bring deep craft, a strong POV, and killer communication.

This role blends expertise in front-end development with a strong upstream and lateral focus—leaning into UX collaboration, architecting flexible CMSs, and martech enablement. You’ll help bring dynamic user journeys to life, working closely with design, strategy, and technology teams to create modular, scalable solutions that empower marketing and deliver measurable impact. You should thrive in a team-oriented environment and be excited to help modernize and push the boundaries of our web experience development practices.

What We Will Value in You

  • Deep front-end expertise: Strong skills in HTML, CSS/SASS, JavaScript, and modern front-end frameworks and workflows, with a particular focus on CMS-driven environments like WordPress and evolving headless or hybrid CMS frameworks.
  • Experience with CMS ecosystems: Skilled at building modular, component-based websites within platforms like WordPress, with exposure to block editor and modern authoring experiences.
  • Martech awareness: Comfortable collaborating with marketing technology teams to enable personalization, analytics tagging, dynamic content feeds, and campaign integrations.
  • User-centric mindset: You think beyond code to the user experience—how a site feels, flows, and performs across devices and user types.
  • Adaptability and problem-solving: You work well in agile, cross-functional environments and can pivot between structured builds and exploratory solutioning as needed.
  • AI-curious and adaptable: You are eager to experiment with AI tools to enhance development, streamline testing, generate modular content, or optimize digital experiences.

What You'll Do

Leadership in Execution & Collaboration

  • Head up our team of front-end developers and QA specialists, including providing guidance and oversight to freelance contributors and external partners.
  • Collaborate closely with UX and design teams to translate wireframes, prototypes, and design systems into fully responsive, accessible web experiences.
  • Partner with data and martech team to integrate analytics schemas, personalization elements, and content management workflows.
  • Provide technical input upstream during UX and strategy phases, helping to guide solutions that are both user-centric and technically feasible.
  • Participate actively in solutioning workshops, code reviews, and technical planning sessions, bringing forward ideas to incorporate AI-driven efficiencies where possible.
  • Help shape our approach to personalization and dynamic content delivery, advising on tools and implementation methods.

Core Technical Responsibilities

  • Develop front-end components, templates, and page layouts with high reusability and scalability, primarily within WordPress and related ecosystems.
  • Leverage modern web technologies and tools (e.g., block editor/Gutenberg, REST APIs, headless integrations where appropriate) to drive flexible build approaches.
  • Implement accessibility best practices (WCAG) and performance optimization techniques to ensure top-quality user experiences.
  • Manage site deployment workflows (CI/CD familiarity preferred) and collaborate with QA for validation and bug resolution.
  • Stay current on front-end innovations, CMS enhancements, and martech trends to continuously improve our offerings.

Scoping & Estimation Support

  • Collaborate with project managers, client teams and agency leadership to inform scopes of work, providing input on technical approach, level of effort, and timeline estimates.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • 7–10+ years of experience in front-end development, with 5+ years working within CMS ecosystems (notably WordPress with Gutenberg/block editor experience)
  • Digital agencies, web development firms, or in-house marketing teams focused on B2B or complex multi-audience websites
  • HTML5, CSS3/SASS, JavaScript (vanilla + frameworks), WordPress theming, block editor customizations, API integration familiarity
  • Exposure to personalization and martech tools (Optimizely, HubSpot CMS, Adobe Target, etc.), analytics integration experience
  • Comfortable defining scalable architectures in fast-paced client environment
  • Highly collaborative, user-focused, growth-oriented, enjoys working across creative and technical disciplines
