POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Security to lead and oversee all aspects of corporate security strategy and operations. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing programs that protect the organization’s physical and digital assets, personnel, and facilities. The Director of Security will play a critical role in establishing policies, ensuring compliance, and proactively mitigating risk across the enterprise. This position reports directly to the SVP of IT, Security & Facilities and collaborates closely with stakeholders across departments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for overseeing the Company's Security department, which includes managing all Facility Clearance Levels (FCLs), personnel security, classified processing, safeguarding, and physical security including access control, surveillance, emergency response, and incident management
- Provide leadership and guidance to a team of security professionals; provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities
- Prepare the facility for required annual audits and vulnerability assessments, maintaining a robust security process
- Conduct regular risk assessments and security audits; identify vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions
- Manage the evaluation and selection of security systems, technologies, and vendors
- Develop and manage the security department’s budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and resource allocation
- Oversee investigations of security breaches, theft, or other incidents, and report findings to executive leadership
- Lead the development, implementation, and enforcement of security manuals, policies, procedures, standards, and briefings
- Maintain awareness of emerging security threats, trends, and technologies, and adapt strategies accordingly
- Prepare and update facility security manuals and briefings, including Operational Security (OPSEC) and Insider Threat policies and procedures
- Develop, coordinate, and conduct security awareness, training, and educational programs for all cleared employees, ensuring adherence to the National Industrial Security Operating Manual (NISPOM), customer requirements, and company policy
- Maintain a detailed understanding and continued implementation of 32 CFR Part 117, the NISPOM, and general security requirements for the Department of Defense (DOD) and other Federal agencies is essential
- Maintain interactive relationships with Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) representatives and prime and subcontractor Facility Security Officers (FSOs)
- Partner with cross-departmental management to coordinate security initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy
- Collaborate with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to manage the Insider Threat Program and policies while serving as the Insider Threat Program Senior Official
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must hold a current DoD Top Secret Clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Information Security, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive experience in corporate security and/or Corporate FSO experience with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Completed FSO Program Management for Possessing Facilities and Insider Threat Training
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with managing and standing up open storage facilities actively processing at Contractor sites under DCSA purview
- Strong understanding of both physical security and information security principles and best practices.
- Experience with access control systems, surveillance technologies, and security operations center (SOC) management.
- In-depth knowledge of NISPOM, Executive Orders, Industrial Security Letters, and DoD Directives
- Working knowledge of Threat Switch/Sign-In Compliance, DISS, NISS, NBIS e-APP, ACCS, and SPOT
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage security operations across multiple sites.
- Strong crisis management and incident response capabilities.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Certifications such as CPP (Certified Protection Professional), PSP (Physical Security Professional), or CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) are strongly preferred.
- COMSEC and OPSEC certifications
- Familiarity with US Import/Export Regulations, International Traffic and Arms Regulations (ITAR) & Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
- Ability to travel as needed to company facilities and operational sites.
