ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGER

Spherion Professional is seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety Manager to oversee safety compliance, environmental reporting, and training.

This role will be key in fostering a safety-first culture across our operations, including limestone quarries, asphalt plants, paving crews, and manufacturing facilities.

Responsibilities:

Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and environmental regulations

Maintain environmental permits and reporting

Lead safety training programs and emergency drills (fire, severe weather, active shooter, chemical spills, etc.)

Investigate accidents and recommend corrective actions

Maintain and file OSHA logs and worker?s compensation reports

Develop and update safety policies and emergency response plans

Monitor workplace conditions to identify and mitigate risks

Organize annual CPR & First Aid training

Exposure to outdoor environments (rain, snow, sun, dust)

Requires lifting up to 25 lbs and performing tasks such as climbing, bending, or crouching

PPE required in most areas (safety shoes, glasses, hard hat, vest)

Working hours: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Skills:

Experience with environmental reporting and permitting

Familiarity with industrial, construction, or manufacturing safety programs

Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail

Education:

Bachelors

Experience:

4-7 years

Qualifications:

3+ years of safety and training experience at a management level

Strong knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, and environmental regulations

Experience in behavior-based safety training & culture development

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong communication skills to foster teamwork and safety accountability

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Valid driver?s license (Kentucky) & ability to travel across multiple sites
