PURPOSE OF JOB

The primary role of Corporate Security Technology department is to provide technology solutions and technical support to Scotiabank various lines of business such as General Counsel, Archives and Corporate Records, Corporate Security and IB Collections, etc. Corp Sec Tech team acts as a custodian of BU servers who oversees application infrastructure and ensure that supported servers and applications are operating effectively. Corp Sec Tech team engages in developing application software to support our client’s business & operational needs. We design, develop and maintain database objects and data warehouse ETL/BI components for helping our clients to manage their business data. These data sets have an enterprise-wide user community, and they are an integral part of our clients’ performance measurement, reporting and control infrastructure.

For the Corp Security Tech team this position is of value to provide proper support on time to the different ongoing activities, as well as engage with the different initiatives at initial stage and provide tech advise from basic level in order to provide tech fundamental to the business solutions.

We are looking for a developer that can upgrade older applications to be in compliance with security needs. For it the developer will need to demonstrate history on development life cycle and to provide support and advice in any of the steps of it.

The incumbent will collaborate with our business clients in Scotiabank to identify and implement Business Intelligence solutions and develop business initiatives through data-driven decision making. This role will require the ability to gain an understanding of older development platforms and translate them into the current platform. The incumbent will familiarize themselves with the business logic and requirements and execute innovative ways to create reusable, flexible and high-performance solutions to applications.

Acting under the guidance & supervision of the Technical Specialist Advisory, the incumbent will assume the following responsibilities:

Position Description:

• Develop Web API in C# using Visual Studio 2022
• Troubleshoot existing bugs and issues with the current applications
• Design, build and test an array of different applications
• Work/hands-on experience in translating complex SQL Stored Procedures using MS SQL to LINQ
• Improve performance, scalability and stability of applications and databases
• Design, develop and maintain applications and third-party library objects (Angular, TypeScript, AngularJS, LINQ)
• Identify issues and improvements to existing Applications for optimal efficiency.
• Design user friendly websites using HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Aid TSS infrastructure team in code promotion and troubleshooting on IST/QAT/PROD environments.
• Determine the Business logical design of each application and how to best optimize it and upgrade it to Angular17+
• Maintain coding best practices documentation, data model documentation and web site design recommendations

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field is preferred.
• 3-5 years as a web developer using Angular
• Experience with querying and administering Microsoft SQL Server and translating Stored Procs into LINQ
• Extensive experience with C#, .NET 8 and incorporate Code First design practices
• QA test and document results
• Troubleshooting of applications in AngularJS and Angular
• Deployment and/or rollback execution to support releases.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Although not necessary, it would also be nice for the incumbent to possess the following skill set:

• Microsoft Certified Professional/Developer
• Experiences and knowledge with QA testing
• Experiences with Fortify Scan
• Microsoft Azure certification.
