POSITION OVERVIEW:

Responsible for providing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices, while working within scope of licensure and under physician direction. Functions as the primary liaison between patients, staff, and providers. Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to meet the needs of the patient and the organization. Must be able to take vital signs, triage patient calls, refill prescriptions, complete necessary prior authorizations, and assist with patient diagnostic testing. Assists with front-end duties including but not limited to checking in/out patients, answering incoming phone calls, processing referrals, scheduling patients, collecting co-pays and verifying insurance. Receives direction from: Providers, Clinical Mangers, and Clinical Directors.

EDUCATION:

  • Graduate of a nursing program or medical assisting program
  • Has passed the CMA/RMA Certification Examination administered by a nationally recognized organization.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Cardiology clinic experience, preferred
  • Familiar with EKG/rhythm management, preferred
  • Proficiency in EHR work, preferred

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Current state LPN license or MA Certification
  • BLS
  • Continuing education requirements dictated by State/Federal licensure requirements

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Medical terminology
  • Basic nursing/MA principles and procedures
  • Key boarding skills, basic offices skills
  • Customer service
  • Knowledge of insurance requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to multitask, problem solve and provide outstanding customer service
  • Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position
