This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) KBVR-TV Assistant Station Manager position for the Orange Media Network at Oregon State University (OSU).

The KBVR-TV Assistant Station Manager is responsible for coordinating volunteers to produce video series for the KBVR website and social media pages

The KBVR-TV Assistant Station Manager employment dates are as follows:

Full Start: Sept. 8, 2025 – June 15, 2026

Pay Rate

Full Start: 10 hours per week, at $638 per month

Position Duties

KBVR-TV Assistant Station Manager Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with KBVR-TV volunteers to connect them to trainings, check-in, and find new opportunities for crew positions at KBVR.
  • Actively and continuously recruit students to join KBVR-TV.
  • Work with TV Station Manager to establish individual production schedules for each show, including the schedule for the shoot, edit, deadline for delivering the finished video, and frequency of videos
  • Create a social media schedule and consistently post engaging content to social media platforms, including video links, behind the scenes photos, social media videos, and more, collaborating with station manager and producers
  • Update a weekly KBVR-TV calendar with information on meeting notes, dates, and other information
  • Assist live shows with productions as needed
  • Assist Station Manager and Producers with social media for shows, including posting and promotion
  • Ensure all crew are trained on the use of OMN equipment before production begins.

Communication:

  • Respond to emails, messages and phone calls the same day, professionally representing OMN
  • Notify adviser immediately should any ethical, legal, personnel or controversial problems occur

Collaboration:

  • Hold and post regular office hours each week for Orange Media Network, at least half of which should be during regular business hours (8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday). Hours may vary during different stages of the term
  • Follow all OMN policies and procedures and hold all staff and volunteers to them as well
  • Act professionally

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
  • International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications

  • Comfortable shooting and editing video
  • Knowledgeable about live studio production
  • Knowledgeable about field video production
  • Knowledgeable of legal regulations and ethical principles guiding television and video
  • Knowledge of video editing software
  • Is a strong writer, communicator and comfortable with public speaking
  • Is organized and reliable

  • Comfortable giving and receiving feedback
  • Able to remain professional and calm when working with difficult individuals and situations
  • Is knowledgeable and experienced in building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and partners

Preferred (Special) Qualifications

  • Has previously been a paid staff member or crew member of KBVR-TV
  • Prior attendance and participation in OMN training camp
  • Capable of effectively using web tools and social media for building engagement
