Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Embedded QA Lead / DevQA Lead to join our User Experience QA Team.
You’ll be reporting to the User Experience QA Manager and you’ll be responsible for supporting him and the team in various aspects, including leading our Embedded QA or DevQA efforts, working with both commercial and proprietary game engines, coordinating other Embedded QA or DevQA, recruiting new talent, working with local and remote Game Teams, or playing an active role in our automation efforts – Unity/Unreal automation, scripting or other proprietary solutions.
You’ll be working with various Stakeholders, such as Game Producers, Game Managers, Game Developers, Release and Operations Managers, other QA specializations, QA Managers, etc… to take the best decisions for providing a top-notch QA Service.
You’ll apply an Entrepreneurial mindset to identify problems and/or opportunities by yourself, developing plans to address them, getting the buy in from Stakeholders and decisional factors, ultimately behaving as an internal Business Leader.
Responsibilities:
- Drive and implement Embedded QA or DevQA testing strategies aligned with development workflows
- Be the QA voice within the Game Team and advocate for a quality-first approach
- Oversee daily activities of 5-10 Embedded QA / DevQA team members
- Ensure QA activities align with sprint goals and development milestones
- Identify areas for improvement within QA workflows
- Stay updated on tools and techniques relevant to the Embedded, DevQA or engine-based QA, prioritizing automation efforts
- Promote and implement QA best practices within the team
- Lead initiatives to enhance testing efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
- Help deliver high-quality builds by collaborating daily with Developers, Designers, Producers, Game Managers or other QA teams
- Provide regular, clear status updates to QA and project stakeholders
- Define and monitor key QA metrics to track team and project progress
- Represent the QA perspective in risk identification and mitigation at project level
Qualifications
- 2+ years’ experience in an Embedded or DevQA leadership role, coordinating 5-10 team members
- 1+ years’ hands-on experience with game engines (ideally Unreal or Unity)
- Bonus points for exposure to multiple gaming platforms (Console, PC, Mobile, Netflix, Apple Arcade, etc.)
- Worked with both local and remote Game Teams
- Bonus points for proven experience with automation of testing processes (ideally Unreal or Unity engine automation)
- Bonus points for proven experience and applicability with Python or other scripting languages in a gaming context
- Good overall understanding of Gaming Production & Delivery pipelines
- Great expertise in testing methodologies, processes, technologies, best practices, tools
- Excellent leadership and team-building abilities
- Balance client orientation with advocating for QA and quality at all levels
- Analytical and logical mindset, favoring an automation-first approach
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills
- Self-motivated, positive attitude, growth mindset, solution oriented
- Familiarity with industry-specific standards
