La Joya ISD seeks a dynamic, visionary Director of Talent Development who will design, implement, and lead a comprehensive talent development system that accelerates professional growth, builds leadership capacity, and drives student achievement.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of adult learning theory, leadership pipeline development, and talent management best practices. They will bring innovation, operational excellence, and a commitment to equity to ensure that every employee is supported to grow, lead, and deliver exceptional outcomes for students.

Education/ Certification:

  • Master’s Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Human Resources, or Organizational Development required
  • Mid-Management or Principal Certification
  • T-TESS Certification

Experience:

  • Minimum five (3) years of experience designing and implementing professional learning, leadership development, or organizational development programs
  • Experience in public education or large-scale talent development initiatives highly preferred
  • Strong understanding of competency frameworks, instructional leadership development, and coaching models

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Strategic Talent Development Leadership

  • Design and implement a comprehensive Talent Development Framework aligned to La Joya ISD’s instructional and operational excellence priorities
  • Lead the development and delivery of leadership academies for aspiring teachers, instructional leaders, assistant principals, principals, and central office leaders
  • Collaborate with district leaders to create clear career pathways for teachers, paraprofessionals, operations staff, and administrators

Professional Learning Design and Implementation

  • Build district wide professional development systems rooted in adult learning best practices, instructional excellence, equity, and leadership development
  • Oversee the planning, design, facilitation, and evaluation of high-impact professional learning experiences for all staff groups
  • Partner with departments and campuses to design targeted training programs that address district goals and areas for improvement

Professional Learning Design and Implementation

  • Build district wide professional development systems rooted in adult learning best practices, instructional excellence, equity, and leadership development
  • Oversee the planning, design, facilitation, and evaluation of high-impact professional learning experiences for all staff groups
  • Partner with departments and campuses to design targeted training programs that address district goals and areas for improvement

Talent Data and Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and monitor a talent development dashboard with metrics such as program participation, promotion rates, retention rates, satisfaction surveys, and impact on student outcomes
  • Use real-time data and feedback to refine professional development offerings and talent development strategies
  • Conduct regular needs assessments to align offerings with district priorities and campus needs

Strategic Partnerships and External Relations

  • Partner with institutions of higher education, nonprofit organizations, and professional networks to expand talent development opportunities
  • Manage grant-funded talent initiatives when applicable and ensure compliance with reporting requirements
  • Represent La Joya ISD in regional and state talent development networks and initiatives

Budget and Operations

  • Manage the Talent Development budget to ensure strategic, cost-effective investment in employee growth initiatives
  • Coordinate logistics for districtwide professional learning events, including facilities, materials, technology, and vendor partnerships

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervise, coach, and evaluate talent development coordinators, specialists, and assigned support staff
  • Provide leadership and guidance to campus-based mentors, instructional coaches, and leadership development facilitators

Working Environment:

  • Office-based with frequent travel to campuses and event sites
  • Extended hours, evenings, and weekends as needed to support leadership academies, workshops, and training events
  • Frequent use of computers, digital platforms, and learning management systems

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Maintain emotional control under pressure
  • High-volume workload with critical deadlines, adaptability to changing priorities
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills required for frequent staff development sessions
