WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

La Joya ISD is seeking an innovative and equity-driven educational leader to serve as the Executive Director of Talent Development. This individual will be responsible for advancing a districtwide culture of coaching, leadership pipeline development, and educator excellence. The ideal candidate is passionate about developing people, understands how strategic talent systems drive academic results, and is ready to lead transformative work across campuses and departments.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification:

? Education: Master’s degree from an accredited university in Educational Leadership or related field

? Certification: Valid Texas Principal or Mid-Management Certificate

Experience:

? Minimum of 5 years of campus or central office leadership experience

? Demonstrated experience leading professional development and/or coaching systems

? Preferred: Experience with TIA implementation and leadership development

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

? Expertise in educator evaluation, coaching models, and adult learning

? Familiarity with TIA systems and TEA designation processes

? Deep understanding of leadership pipeline strategy and instructional leadership

? Ability to analyze data for improvement planning and decision-making

? Exceptional facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills

? Strong project management and organizational ability

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Leadership Development and Coaching Cycles

  • Design and implement La Joya ISD’s tiered leadership pipeline for aspiring, novice, and experienced leaders.
  • Manage districtwide coaching cycles for principals, APs, and instructional leaders focused on observation, feedback, and professional growth.
  • Lead and monitor T-TESS calibration sessions with principals and central office leaders to ensure consistency and rigor in teacher evaluation practices.
  • Support campus administrators with individualized coaching and professional learning aligned to instructional leadership and campus needs.

Educator Effectiveness and Strategic Compensation

  • Lead TIA implementation across the district, including eligibility tracking, student growth validation, and TEA compliance submissions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for TIA program design, communication, and expansion across new campuses and teacher groups.
  • Partner with the Office of Finance and Human Capital to align performance-based compensation to recruitment, retention, and teacher quality goals.

Leadership Pipeline and Succession Planning

  • Create and manage systems to identify and prepare future campus and district leaders.
  • Oversee aspiring leader programs, leadership residencies, and succession plans in collaboration with the Chief of Human Capital and Talent Development.
  • Monitor performance and pipeline data to adjust leadership development programming and meet evolving district needs.

Professional Learning and Coaching Infrastructure

  • Design and facilitate districtwide professional learning aligned to La Joya ISD’s instructional priorities, TAPR data, and accountability outcomes.
  • Ensure all coaching and learning structures are job-embedded, feedback-driven, and grounded in adult learning theory.
  • Lead professional learning communities and collaborate with Curriculum & Instruction to embed coaching into the instructional framework.

Policy, Compliance, and Collaboration

  • Ensure all professional learning, TIA, and T-TESS systems meet applicable TEA and local policy guidelines.
  • Maintain documentation and compliance records for professional development, teacher evaluation, and designation data.
  • Collaborate with departments including Accountability, Curriculum & Instruction, and School Leadership to align talent development initiatives.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise the Talent Development team, including staff supporting leadership pipelines, coaching, teacher residence and professional learning.
  • Support districtwide implementation of the instructional coaching model, T-TESS, and evaluation calibration.
  • Assist with oversight of strategic compensation systems, including TIA processes and educator performance alignment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Environment:

  • Districtwide travel required; occasional evening or weekend work for training, events, or compliance deadlines
  • Fast-paced office environment with frequent interruptions and competing priorities

Physical Demands:
