Material Handler

$2,500 Sign-on Bonus

Greiner Industries is looking for an individual to work in the yard for our burn bed and laser cutting division. This individual will be operating a forklift and yard trucks with care to ensure efficiency and safety. The job involves loading/unloading material as needed and working with the team to keep your area supplied with materials and neat. This role will need to be a responsible individual with experience in driving industrial vehicles. The goal will be to ensure that material and products will always be at the right place to achieve maximum efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Unload steel materials from incoming vehicles/load steel onto outgoing vehicles
  • Operate overhead cranes
  • Knowledge of correct lifting and handling of product/material, proper blocking to set pieces to handle weight of the piece, proper positions of chains, slings, and straps
  • Identify damages and report issues with equipment or products.
  • Transport materials to work areas and to other buildings. Verify the pieces are secure for transport.
  • Inspect machinery to determine if it can be operated safely and guarantee safety by performing routine maintenance
  • Communicate with your team so they know what material is in the yard or shop
  • Comply with company policies and legal guidelines
  • Help maintain a safe and orderly environment of the facilities

Skills

  • Proven experience as forklift operator, preferred
  • Proven experience moving material in a yard, preferred
  • Basic math and measurement skills
  • Attention to detail and familiarity with industrial equipment
  • Safety awareness
  • Able to climb ladders and secure large pieces
  • Working outdoors
  • Excellent physical condition and coordination

Specific Qualifications

Must be able to pass pre-employment background check and drug screen, and when applicable if duties involve operating motor vehicle must be able to pass motor vehicle record check.
