As a Data Scientist, you will play a key role in this transformation, using advanced analytics, machine learning, and statistical modelling to optimise trading, risk management, and pricing strategies across the Flutter Group. Your work will drive automation, efficiency, and innovation, delivering innovative solutions that enhance our sports betting products.
What you’ll do
Data Science & Modelling:
- Develop and implement predictive models to support risk management, trading automation, and pricing strategies.
- Use advanced statistical techniques and machine learning to extract insights from structured and unstructured data.
- Design and maintain robust data pipelines to ensure efficient and scalable model deployment.
- Optimise model performance through rigorous testing, validation, and iteration.
- Leverage Databricks to manage and scale machine learning workflows.
Collaboration & Delivery:
- Work together and work closely with Trading, Product, Technology, and Data Engineering teams to identify and solve key business problems.
- Partner with engineers to ensure seamless integration of models into production systems.
- Embrace challenges and translate complex analytical findings into actionable recommendations.
- Contribute to the development of a strong, data-driven culture within GST.
- Effectively communicate model performance, limitations, and assumptions to non-technical audiences.
- Enable ease of access & usability by supporting self-serve APIs, query interfaces, and visualisation tools.
- Contribute ideas, encouraging working together to achieve common goals whilst embracing challenges met throughout the process.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
- Stay ahead of industry trends in data science, machine learning, and AI to drive innovation to develop your skills.
- Conduct research on new methodologies, testing their applicability to sports betting and trading.
- Improve and refine existing models and data science capabilities within GST.
- Promote set processes in model governance, reproducibility, and explainability.
- Accelerate time to value through pre-processed datasets and standardised model scaffolding frameworks.
- Implement feedback & evolution mechanisms, ensuring models continuously improve via built-in retraining pipelines to ensure we can learn and grow.
How you’ll do it
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and AWS cloud services.
- Expertise in machine learning, statistical modelling, and predictive analytics.
- Experience with Databricks, and big data technologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business problems into data-driven solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills work across teams and with others at various levels of seniority.
- Industry experience in sports betting, finance, or high-frequency trading is a plus.
- Knowledge of feature engineering, model explainability, and bias mitigation techniques.
- Strong understanding of A/B testing, experimentation, and performance measurement.
- Familiarity with real-time analytics and streaming data processing.
- Ability to unlock value through automated risk critical metrics, self-service dashboards, and enhanced divisional access.
- Ability to develop scalable and reusable models that can be deployed across multiple brands.
- Experience contributing towards working together to achieve common goals whilst embracing challenges met throughout the process.
- Degree in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, etc.).
