Description of Work

Murdoch is recruiting a Maintenance/Construction Technician I/Filter Mechanic. The primary purpose of the Plant Maintenance Section is to ensure the successful operation of the physical plant and facility infrastructure. This is one of two positions assigned to the Mechanical Shop under the HVAC Supervisor. These positions are responsible for all of Murdoch Center’s heating and air conditioning filter changes, drive belt changes and bearing greasing (550,000 square feet of conditioned space in 42 buildings). It is also responsible for air compressor, ice machine and refrigerator maintenance. This position is responsible for the above duties on Murdoch Center’s campus, Butner Office Complex (45,000 square feet), Path House and Wright Path group homes, and Camp Eason.

Work Schedule: 7:00am - 4:00pm, M-F

This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance, paid sick/vacation/holidays, retirement, etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

To receive credit for all of your work history and credentials, you must list the information on the application form.   • Experience in some areas of any of the following: electrical, plumbing and HVAC operations.
  • Working knowledge of tools and electrical instruments
  • Valid Driver's License

Management Preferences:

  • Two years of proven experience in a maintenance organization.
  • Work experience maintaining air compressors and ice machines.
  • Current certification be the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations part 82, subpart F.
  • Experience with motorized lifts.

Physical Requirements:

  • ADA-Heavy Work

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma or a sufficient year-for-year combination of education and experience associated with a variety of mechanical or building trades

Necessary Special Qualification May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F. **not required for this position**
