Job Summary:

As a crucial member of UAB, Callahan Eye, the nursing Unit, and the Emergency Department, nurses play a pivotal role in patient care. They report directly to the Manager of Patient Care Advocacy.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for Emergency Department and Nursing Unit patients, all under our policies.
  • Actively participates in teams that enhance outcome quality through process improvement and team technologies.
  • Previous Emergency Department experience and knowledge of clinical ophthalmology and terminology is desirable

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Must have a current Alabama license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse. Two years of nursing experience preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
  • Previous Emergency Department experience and clinical ophthalmology and terminology knowledge are desirable.

Licenses/Certification

Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment. Depending on the unit/department, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required.
