Position: Strategic Planning Lead - Battery materials / Specialty Chemicals

Location: The Woodlands, TX

Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire

Travel: Approximately 30% (domestic and international)

Overview:

System One is assisting an international battery materials and specialty chemical company in hiring a Strategic Planning Lead to drive North American business execution and alignment with global strategy. This individual contributor role offers exposure to global leadership, high-impact initiatives, and cross-functional collaboration across North America, Europe, and APAC regions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic initiatives that align North American business operations with global priorities
  • Support go-to-market (GTM) strategies for new product introductions and service offerings
  • Develop and manage project timelines, execution frameworks, and financial tracking for key business initiatives
  • Identify strategic partnerships across startups, universities, and research institutions
  • Translate corporate objectives into actionable regional plans that address local market dynamics
  • Analyze competitive landscapes, emerging technologies, and market trends to inform business decisions
  • Act as a cross-functional connector between teams spanning strategy, R&D, product, and commercial operations
  • Facilitate alignment between global and regional leadership through structured communication and reporting
  • Contribute to capability building in offering management, innovation, and market entry strategy

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or Materials Science; MBA preferred
  • 5–7 years of experience in strategy execution, go-to-market initiatives, or B2B project management
  • Background in consulting, corporate strategy, or technical sales is highly valued
  • Experience in clean tech, chemicals, or the broader energy sector is preferred
  • Strong analytical and project management capabilities with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and across global time zones
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with stakeholder alignment experience
  • Exposure to global markets, especially Europe and/or APAC, is a plus
  • Open innovation or partnership development experience is an advantage
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30% (U.S., Canada, China, Europe)
