Trystar’s team members are our most important asset, we are in search of a Punch Press Operator, for our Faribault, MN facility. This position plays a critical role in achieving our strategic objectives. Trystar’s Punch Press Operator position is an important part of Trystar’s plan to become the world’s foremost custom solution provider.

Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, the Punch Press Operator will be responsible for operating punch press machines to produce precision components from various materials, such as sheet metal or fiber board. They play a critical role in the manufacturing process, ensuring accurate and efficient production of parts according to engineering drawings and specifications.

In this role you will get to:

  • Surface Preparation: Clean and prepare metal surfaces before the powder coating process, removing any contaminants, rust, or debris that could affect the adhesion of the coating.
  • Quality Control: Inspect finished components for defects or imperfections, ensuring that they meet quality standards and specifications.
  • Pre-Paint Prep: Plug and tape holes in the materials prior to the paint process.
  • Paint Cart Loading and Unloading: Perform both the loading of materials for the pre paint process and the unloading of painted parts post paint.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on grinding and sandblasting equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any equipment issues to maintenance personnel.
  • Material Handling: Safely handle and move metal components, ensuring they are positioned correctly for surface preparation and subsequent manufacturing processes. Safely handle and move metal components, ensuring they are positioned correctly for grinding and sandblasting processes.
  • Quality Control: Inspect metal surfaces after preparation to ensure they meet required specifications and are ready for subsequent manufacturing operations.
  • Safety and PPE: Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols while handling metal materials and operating surface preparation, grinding, and sandblasting equipment, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect against hazards.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other team members, including supervisors, welders, fabricators, and painters, to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to project timelines.
  • Documentation: Accurately record production data in Epicor, machine settings, and maintenance activities to maintain production records and assist in process improvement efforts.
  • Material Inventory: Keep track of metal supplies and consumables used in the surface preparation process and communicate any material needs to the appropriate personnel.

Job Requirements:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read instructions, safely operate machines and visually inspect parts produced.
  • Accuracy and timeliness in completion of work assignments is a must.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an intermittent basis.
  • Must be able to read, write and comprehend plant directives written in English.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Have basic computer skills and accurate data entry experience for receiving and issuing products.
  • Perform simple mathematics to comprehend and interpret process sheets, SOP manuals, tally sheets, etc. and to keep accurate account of materials used during manufacturing process including scrap amounts.
  • Ability to grind components in flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
  • Basic understanding of blueprints, mechanical assembly, and electrical assembly.
  • Frequent lifting, standing, bending & reaching required.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.
  • Must adhere to all the PPE requirements to perform the job safely, this includes but is not limited to, Eye, Hand, Feet, and Hearing protection.
  • Proficiency with various surface preparation techniques, including chemical cleaning, sandblasting, and grinding tools and equipment to achieve desired finishes on metal components.
  • Understanding of different metal types and their specific grinding and sandblasting requirements.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to achieve precise and consistent surface finishes.
  • Basic understanding of safety procedures and proper handling of grinding and sandblasting equipment.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
