The Place-Based Circular Societal Innovations Post-Doctoral Research Fellow will work closely with Prof. Weslynne Ashton to conduct research on an international project “Place-based Circular Society Innovations (Pb-CSI)”, led by Manchester Metropolitan University, and funded by the United Kingdom Research & Innovation. The aim of the Pb-CSI project is to explore the processes by which places can become more equitable, inclusive and environmentally sustainable by developing, implementing and scaling circular society innovations (CSI).

information is requested for the limited purpose of RPS, and is maintained

pursuant to Illinois Tech’s Export Compliance Program.

Education & Experience

  • Doctoral degree in Business, Environmental Science, Sociology, or Design.
  • Expertise in quantitative (e.g.., survey analysis) and qualitative (e.g., interviews and coding) social science research methods.
  • Experience with sustainability assessments, such as life cycle assessment, techno-economic analysis, social impact assessment .

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong social science quantitative/qualitative research and academic writing skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to build frameworks, collect appropriate data, analyze and present data.
  • Data literacy across quantitative and qualitative data sets.
  • Ability to apply a design-led approach to a project’s design and execution
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of stakeholders (locally and internationally) in ways that invite others into the process, share power and make space for different opinions and perspectives to be included in the process
  • Ability to understand and value diverse and often conflicting perspectives and the values and priorities therein.
