The Maryland School for the Deaf (MSD) is a diverse,\r\nbilingual community who in partnership with families, provides an equitable and\r\nexemplary education in a nurturing, engaging, and challenging environment to\r\nensure our students achieve personal excellence and become lifelong\r\nlearners.��As such, we are looking for dedicated individuals who can\r\njoin us in the education of the children at MSD.\r\n\r\n\r\nThis is a twelve-month position in the Career\r\n& Technical Education (CTE) Department of the Frederick Campus of the Maryland\r\nSchool for the Deaf.\r\n

Main Purpose of Job

To lead and grow MSD’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) program; provide progressive education, leadership, and supervision of staff and students of the CTE program in partnership with the High School Department and Transition Services.\r\n

POSITION DUTIES

Provide models of effective teaching strategies to\r\ninstructional staff;\r\n\r\n\r\nParticipate in the development, implementation, and\r\nmaintenance of Maryland’s College and Career Readiness Standards in technical\r\nsubjects;\r\n\r\n\r\nManage complex changes to align curriculum, instruction,\r\nand assessment to ensure students are learning at high levels;\r\n\r\n\r\nParticipate in the maintenance of Bilingual Education\r\nconcepts throughout the School;\r\n\r\n\r\nEvaluate job performance of team leaders, teachers, and\r\nteacher aides;\r\n\r\n\r\nAssist in the development and implementation of IEPs and\r\nparticipate in IEP meetings;\r\n\r\n\r\nAssist in the assessment of staff needs and providing\r\nstaff development;\r\n\r\n\r\nParticipate in the coordination of class scheduling,\r\ncourse development, and teacher assignments;\r\n\r\n\r\nParticipate in the review of applications, interview\r\napplicants, and submit recommendations for hire of new CTE staff to fill multiple\r\nnew positions that will populate MSD’s growing CTE program;\r\n\r\n\r\nAlign all program growth with Maryland’s Blueprint to meet College and Career\r\nReady Standards, Maryland State Diploma, and Career & Technical Education\r\npathway, as well as to stay up to date with the ever evolving economy, labor\r\nmarket, and technological innovations for which students must be prepared;\r\n\r\n\r\nDirect and assist in management of student behavior;\r\n\r\n\r\nCreate and post positions, develop and maintain\r\ncollaborative relationships with community partners to further student learning\r\nand trade experience;\r\n\r\n\r\nAnd assume other responsibilities as designated\r\nby the Chief Educational Programs Officer.\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

\r\nEducation: A Master's Degree in the Education of Deaf students,\r\nEducation of Deaf students with additional disabilities, or related field\r\nrequired.\r\n\r\n\r\nExperience: A minimum of three years of successful classroom\r\nteaching experience with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students is required.\r\n\r\n\r\nMaryland State Department of Education Administrator\r\nII Certification/Licensure required (or the ability to obtain in a specific\r\ntime).� Understanding of basic behavior principles and school wide\r\nbehavior programs and interventions required. Fluency in American Sign Language\r\nand written English, and knowledge of Deaf community required.� Superior\r\ninterpersonal and active listening skills required.\r\n\r\n\r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

\r\nExperience in administration/supervision preferred.\r\n\r\n\r\nExperience in leadership activities that involve organizing,\r\nplanning, directing, and monitoring resources preferred.\r\n\r\n\r\nExperience teaching Career and Technical courses at the\r\nmiddle school or high school level preferred.\r\n\r\n\r\nKnowledge of educational strategies for Deaf students with\r\nadditional needs preferred.\r\n\r\n\r\nExperience in developing community-based\r\nopportunities.\r\n\r\n\r\n

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
