Job Story

The NIAR Composites & Structures Lab is looking for a student assistant.

Job Summary

A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.

Job Duties

• Provide composite hand layup skills needed for panel fabrication.
• Understand and strictly follow NCAMP Materials Specifications and Material Process Specifications.
• Maintain and provide documentations of the entire fabrication process while providing full traceability.

Required Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Requirements

• Engineering student with 2 years to dedicate to the position.
• Work a minimum of 20 hours per week during the school year.
• Work 40 hours per week in the summer, winter break, and spring break.

Additional Information for Posting

• Climbing in a freezer to inventory and stack boxes of prepreg.
• Lifting boxes and layup tool ranging from 60 lbs. - 80 lbs. on average.

Physical Requirements

Ability to remain in a stationary position.

Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment, including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators.

Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
