How you will create an impact

This is a technical underwriting role sits within China A&H Technical Underwriting (TU) team, mainly focuses on 1) technical underwriting support and 2) inward RI underwriting related work.

  • Assist China TU Head / PA UW Manager to manage PA business underwritings, internal referrals, portfolio performance and overall UW quality.
  • Underwriting Collaboration - Liaise with sales operation, marketing, Systems, Legal, Claims and Finance/Accounting Departments to ensure awareness of underwriting activities that require support and service.
  • Underwriting Compliance - Conduct periodic audits, support the team to ensure underwriting compliance and stick to Underwriting guidelines.
  • A&H projects - assist senior managers to lead the development and implementation of various A&H projects from technical underwriting perspective.
  • Proceed A&H inward RI BAU quotations, including both FAC and treaty opportunities, manage the end-to-end underwriting process from risk assessment, underwriting, pricing to quotation
  • Lead case negotiations with cedants/brokers to win RI business with AIG preferred terms and conditions.
  • Actively manage client relationships with ceding companies and RI brokers.
  • Manage inward RI portfolio under his/her responsible branches profitable and sustainable.
  • Ad-hoc tasks/projects assigned by mangers.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Demonstrated underwriting experience preferably with a focus on Group PA, Business Travel and Overseas GPA products, inward reinsurance underwriting experience a plus.
  • Colleague degrees with underwriting/actuarial credentials a plus (e.g. CPCU, FCAS, FIA, FSA, etc.).
  • Prior experiences working in an insurance BD or production underwriter role a plus.
  • Experience working with different channels (Agent/Broker/DTC/Partnerships).
  • Experience working in a fast paced and bilingual environment.
  • Good presentation and communication skills.
  • Self-starter and disciplined, comfortable working in a remote environment from time-to-time.
  • Knowledge of High End Medical & personal insurance products a plus.
