Primary Function of Position

Systems Analysts (Robotic Algorithms and Controls Engineers) at Intuitive perform a central role in the design, development, and support of new and existing products associated with Intuitive and providing technical analytic assistance to other engineering groups. As a member of the Systems Analyst Product Engineering team working on the Ion Endoluminal System (Intuitive’s platform for minimally invasive biopsy in the lung), you will be supporting, amongst other projects, existing instruments and accessories used in minimally invasive biopsy by refining and developing robotic algorithms, developing of tools and software infrastructure that support those algorithms, leading failure analysis/root causing investigations, and analyzing manufacturing and field performance data to show the impact of the improvements. These responsibilities cross into electrical, mechanical, software, control, user interface, and safety engineering where all the subsystems are integrated together. The successful candidate will have the technical depth to manage deep analysis problems and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team to drive future designs and improvements into the product.

Essential Job Duties

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Evaluate complex electro-mechanical systems for dynamic safety and clinical risk.
  • Design algorithms for new and existing field products.
  • Lead root cause efforts on existing manufacturing and field products.
  • Design software tools and infrastructure that enable research and development of new algorithms.
  • Design experimentations to decouple complex dependencies and drives understanding of key relationships.
  • Perform comprehensive testing, including formal Verification and Validation, to ensure the quality and performance of algorithms.
  • Facilitate and support mechanical, hardware, and software integration of product improvement projects under tight timelines.
  • Improve group workflow through building tools and teaching others.
  • Support and track system performance as it moves from design to manufacturing to the field.
